PARKING

Its not great to park in our neighborhood. Please remember that we are just outside of NYC. During the day it’s pretty easy, but after 6pm you are going to need to drive around a bit. You must have a pass to park overnight and to leave your car longer then 4 hours during the day.

Below is the overnight pay station locations. The library is the closest one to our house. The Parking Pass Machine is across the street from the Library during the renovation. You need your plate number and payment, nothing more. We do not do the online pass registration process. Unfortunately they require us to share info that we won’t be sharing with guests. You must use the pass station if you plan on driving and parking in this area. The pass lasts for 24 hours.

NOTE: For the parking pas station at the library. The Google maps pin is for the temporary library. You need to put in 8411 Bergenline for the correct location. The library building is between 82nd and 85th street. The station is across the street from the boarded up Library entrance. (see pic below)

Tips: Make sure you pay attention to driveways, street cleaning signs and allowed parking rules. Always find the parking sign to understand the rules before you leave your car for the night. Sometimes there is only one sign per block so pay attention. If you can’t find one, don’t think you are safe. You may be better off finding a place that does have a sign so you know for a fact who is allowed to park there. Don’t park infront of peoples drives. You could get towed.

Parking sucks, but it’s possible. You just need determination, the ability to parallel park, and an eye to spend the least amount of money. Also I take solace that my neighboorhood isn’t near as bad as Hobokon with street parking. Man that place is a chore to find parking. Also it beats the 40-60$ a day that NYC hotels charge!
