Check - In

If coordinated at least 24 hours beforehand, we can sometimes accomodate early arrival. Otherwise check in is at 3pm. Once we verify your ideal arrival time we will send you info for the lockbox in the entry way so you can check in without us.

Check - Out

I hope you enjoyed your stay here! As a reminder, check-out is at 11am on the day that your booking ends.

Before you leave, I request that you:

  • Not make the beds. The sheets will be torn off and cleaned. Just leave them as is. We got it.

  • Gather all used towels and place them on the corner of your room.

  • Wash All Dishes and just leave them in the strainer to dry. We can put them away. Again we got it.

  • Leave basically everything as you found it. As in if you move things please put them back.

I also request that you leave a review to let me know how your stay was.

NOTE: Many people think the Airbnb rating is like the hotel industry with 3 being the “as expected” That sadly not true for Airbnb. Anything less the a 5 is really not acceptable to them. Anything less then a 4.5 can get your removed from the platform. By all means we don’t want to pressure you into giving a review you don’t feel comfortable with. We are just letting you know how this particular system works. We just ask that you rate your stay based on if the room was “as advertised.” We strive to be as truthful as possible regarding location and what to expect regarding the room.

Rating System Explained.JPG

Quiet Hours

We don’t have any type of curfew; however we do ask that after 11pm you are relatively subdued and not crazy loud. Also we live in a urban area. There are urban sounds; sometimes our lovely neighbors like to chat with their friends out in their back yards on the weekends.

Recycling / Trash

In NJ we have to recycle. The trash and Glass, Plastic and Metal containers are to the left of the sink. The paper container is to the Right of the sink. We have to separate paper from the other items. We don’t have compost.

If you are staying in the apartment for a long term stay (+7 days) please note that garbage night is Sunday and Wednesday Night. Recycling is Monday Night. All items can go on the street after 6pm. Again this is only for long term stays over 7 days.

How To Change the Heat

We have a Nest in the Dining room by the mirror. Just gently touch the knob and it will tell you the current status temp. If you need to change the heat, you just turn the entire round dial to the right or left. It should tell you the temp in text and if you are going up or down. If it's RED then that means it's actively telling the boilers to heat up and heat is on it's way shortly. It does have time events scheduled, so if you override the temp it will reset with the next time event. Just know you might need to re-raise it if that occurs.

Laundry

There is a wonderful Laundromat 1.5 blocks away. They do drop-off laundry if that works better for you.

Air Conditioning

We have Window units installed in the Summer. They are pretty self explanatory. Push the power button and then change the knobs to the temp setting you want. If it’s not the summer we typically uninstall them to improve the heating of the room. We do have fans available if you need air movement and the air-con isn’t installed.

We have a Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover air filter in the Guest Room. It has several settings you can leave on or off depending on your preference. It also have time settings if you want to use if just for a short amount of time. To turn it off you have to push the large button in the middle to cycle through the settings until it turns off.

Air Filter

Kitchen

Our Kitchen is pretty simple to orient yourself if needed. It is available for use. If you need to use condiments like ketchup and mustard; that’s totally fine.

We have the following appliances :

  • Wine ice bucket. In the bottom cabinet, left of the stove

  • Air Popcorn maker. Top most left upper cabinet.

  • Food Processor. Top most left upper cabinet.

  • Japanese Rice Maker. Top most left upper cabinet.

  • Medium Sized Crock Pot. Cabinet over the fridge. ( Do not use the crockpot in the top most left upper cabinet. It’s used for stripping paint off hardware. )

  • Professional Kitchen aid mixer. Island middle base cabinet.

  • Fridge/Freezer (small freezer )

  • Gas Stove

  • Overhead Vent

Coffee

Coffee and Herbal Tea supplies are in the drawer to the right of the sink. Help yourself; you may need to grind the coffee and the grinder is in the drawer as well. It’s a simple Coffee Maker. It takes a paper cone filter, Water and Coffee. Once those are in; just push the brew button. The light will turn orange, make coffee and stay hot for an hour. It does turn itself off.

Sugar and Cream are those little containers in the drawer. Mostly because I drink black coffee so I don’t stock milk or real cream.

I also have a pour over funnel w/ filters if you require that version of coffee. Those supplies are also in the drawer just most likely all the way in the back.

Groceries

There is a walk-able grocery store that has the basics Latino American Super Market. We also have the following large grocery stores via uber or car. Mitsuwai- Japanese, H-Mart - Korean, Target, Acme, Whole Foods, & Trader Joe’s.

Use the TV

We have 1 white goolge remote. There is a button on TV remote that says Netflix. Push it an wait a bit. Please use the Guest Account on Netflix.

We'd prefer that you not charge any movies so that we don't have to go through the act of charging you separately for the cost.

Iron and Ironing Board

We have an iron located in the kitchen island, in a metal basket, on the side closes to the sink. You will need to move the island in order to use the ironing board. The island is on wheels, however you need to unlock the wheels in order to allow it to move freely. The ironing board is in the cabinet recessed into the wall in the kitchen. You grab the bottom of the board and slowly lift it up. It should slide into place and stay there if the board is all the way down. There is an outlet inside of the cabinet for the iron.

We can’t do them. Service dogs and only dogs are allowed as per law. We will need to know if (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Also the service dog is not allowed to be left for any amount of time alone in our residence as per the ADA.

Please note we can not accomodate emotional support animals at this time for 2 main reasons.

Reason 1: We have a cat. It’s in the listing. It’s not in the apartment with you, but it lives there when we are home. This is our home. We don’t do airBnB full time; it’s only when we need to save up money for taxes or home maintainance. So Yay! We aren’t removing housing stock from the market and Boo! we have more stuff then a standard Airbnb. (We have a hepa filter in the room for people who are allergic to cats. My mom is and she is able to handle the issues because of the filter. ( She also loves me so she’s more incentivsed to put up with it. )

Ok so who cares if you have a cat. My little snook’m is small it won’t be an issue if he/she comes. Well, Cats are territorial and I am not willing to manage the issues that come about with him getting upset because another animal was in his space. We been through this when someone thought to bring their pet without asking us. I will not go through that again and you will be removed if this happens. There are plenty of other places to stay; please choose another adventure.

Reason 2. My husband is allergic to Dogs. I know it’s wierd that cats aren’t an issue but dogs are. However that’s where we are at. It sucks but it is what it is. It makes us increadibly unpopular when we visit friends with dogs. We are aware of our issues.
